Empty comments, also known as blank or hidden text, are quite famous to interact on different social media platforms without saying anything. The same is possible for YouTube videos.
These comments help YouTube users who want to keep their thoughts subtle or simply engage with content in a unique way. But here is the catch: YouTube doesn’t allow users to simply type in some spaces from the keyboard to create such a comment.
So, what is the solution? Use invisible characters instead of spaces to create invisible comments. Don’t know how to do this? Read this detailed guide to learn the process and best strategies!
What Are Invisible Comments?
Invisible comments on YouTube are comments that appear to contain no visible text. This makes it look like you’ve posted a blank message.
There are many reasons to use this approach:
Manipulate Comment Section—Empty comments increase the comment count and manipulate the YouTube algorithms to think of meaningful viewer interaction.
Appear More Popular—A video with a higher comment count seems more popular with viewers as well, even if they are invisible.
Stand Out in Crowd—Invisible comments can be a fun way to stand out or get attention, as they appear unique in the comments section.
Different Types of Invisible Comments on YouTube
That said, there are two primary types of invisible comments:
- Completely Invisible Comments
- Minimized/Contextual Comments
Completely Invisible Comments appear fully blank with no visible characters. On the other hand, Minimized Comments uses invisible characters in the beginning, but with some visible characters that are shown when the ‘Show more’ button is clicked.
How to Post an Invisible Comment on YouTube?
Posting an invisible comment on YouTube requires using characters that don’t display visibly, called invisible characters. These characters are often part of the Unicode system, such as zero-width spaces or invisible ink.
Here are the steps to post an invisible comment on YouTube:
Select a Tool to Copy Invisible Characters
The typical keyboard on mobile devices or a desktop doesn’t have invisible characters. Instead, specialized tools are used to copy these characters.
The one we are using in this blog is Invisible-Character. It is a cloud-based tool which means anyone can use it from anywhere on any device with a web browser and internet connection.

Remember, we have used this tool to give you step-by-step guidelines on the topic. If you have any other tool in mind, you can use that, too. The purpose here is to access and copy the invisible characters as easily as possible.
Copy Invisible Character(s)
Open the tool. Closely go through the interface and see the different available options.
Remember, Invisible Character (the tool we’re using) provides users with four options:
- Copy with a button
- Copy blank space manually
- Generate unlimited invisible characters
- Test and copy invisible characters
In the first method, simply click the ‘Copy To Clipboard’ button to copy the invisible spaces.
However, if it doesn’t work, opt for the seconds method—copy blank space manually.
All you need to do is to manually select the single invisible character or click the ‘Select’ button. Once the stored invisible character is selected, press Ctrl + C (for Windows) or CMD + C (for macOS) to copy the selected text.
If you want to copy any number of invisible characters, the third method can help you.
Simply enter your desired number into the input box—we have used ‘4’, as you can see in the illustration below. Click the ‘Generate’ button and then the ‘Copy icon’ given below the Text and Copy Invisible Character section to get your output.
Whatever the method you choose, the motto is to copy the invisible character(s) to the device’s clipboard. Once copied, follow the next steps given below:
Paste Copied Invisible Characters Into Comment Section
Find the YouTube video where you want to leave an invisible comment and play it. Go to the comments section and click the ‘Add a comment’ section, which is the comment input box.
Paste the copied invisible character into the comment box. As you can see in the image attached below, it looks like a blank space but will be counted as a character.
Post the Comment
Once you paste the invisible characters into the input box, click ‘Comment’ to post your invisible message. Your comment will appear blank, but it has been successfully posted.
Just like the normal comment, you can like/dislike the invisible comment and even reply to it. You even get the same Edit and Delete option once you click the three-dot icon.
Best Practices for Adding Invisible Comments on YouTube
Avoid Spam Filters
Don’t post too many invisible comments in a short period. YouTube’s spam filter may detect this as spam. Also, it could raise a red flag on your account, so use them sparingly.
Select Appropriate Videos and Contexts
Invisible comments can be best suited for videos where subtle engagement is appreciated, like tutorials or educational content. Avoid using them on sensitive topics or in serious discussions, as they may come across as disruptive.
Engage with Audiences Via Invisible Comments
You can use invisible comments to hint at additional information, invite viewers to explore more content, share a playful message, hide secret messages, or surprise their audience.
Conclusion
Invisible comments on YouTube let users engage by posting blank comments that appear empty but still count as interactions.
Special characters called “invisible characters” are required to add one as regular spaces won’t work. For this, use a tool like Invisible Character to copy these characters, then paste them into the YouTube comment box and post.
These comments can help videos appear more popular and let users stand out. However, avoid overuse to prevent spam detection.
